Whole Oats have a hull that is separate from the bran and germ of the grain. The outer hull of oat grains is noticeably harder and waxier (or at least more water resistant) than that of other grains, so it both holds moisture in well and prevents clumping. Whole Oats are perfect for making very moist nutritious oatmeal inside of ridged capsules that mycelium can easily colonize, which will retain individual inoculation points.
